Carousel – 2113

We absolutely adored that motoring sound Jewelers Daughter brought us and spun that record until the needle ran right through the vinyl. And now, Carousel returns with the follow-up called 2113. Named after the number of the apartment where the guys lived together the sound reminds of that earlier album but has grown much richer and fuller. With added member Matt Goldborough (Pentagram/The Skull) the guitar violence explodes right out of the speaker like the rumblings of a Vincent Black Shadow exhaust pipe. But before we get carried away again with motorcycles analogies lets mention there’s also a more southern edge this time around and a rhythm sections that bounces and grooves like a motherfucker. And where that first album was marauding cavalry heading towards a party, this one has arrived, dismounted and are either sitting in the sun enjoying beer, strutting around checking out the girls or head banging to majestic guitars that not only pay homage to Wishbone Ash and Thin Lizzy, no they also molest cowbells and harmonicas. Shit. A party can’t get any better than this!
