The Black Widow's Project – Heavy Heart

The Black Widow's Project – Heavy Heart
Shitstem Records/Domino Media – 2012
Rock, Hard, Seventies, Stoner
Rated: *****

Formed in Geneva in 2010, The Black Widow’s Project is one of those bands that strikes a chord in the heart of the most reckless and the insane from that first subdued riff. Their second album Heavy Heart is full frontal assault that hauls you along on a deranged and maniacal roller coaster ride. It is a wild ride that moves through the seventies and the blues inspired stuff just as easily as through hardrock, grunge, doom and stoner. And if that sounds like these freaks are all over the place; then you are right! But they do it with grace and an amazing aptitude that borders on sheer poetic perfection. They seem to be able to pull off anything that anyone could imagine and you can hear elements of all the great bands and genres hidden in their tracks. These crazy Swiss motherfuckers have delivered one hottdamn amazing album and should go on tour with Feuerzeug; cause the two of them would burn down every freakin venue in the whole damn world!

  1. Absolutely! You can hear Kyuss, Down, Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Corrosion of Conformity, Black Crowes, Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Label Society, Soundgarden and a whole suitcase of other great bands of the genre in their sound. And they do this without ripping them off or sounding exactly like them! Amazing!
